if you've happened across this dumpster fire of a webpage then you're probably interested in ordering food not web development services. fortunately we got that food for ya... but if you want some terrible web design ideas i gotchu.

 

UPDATES:

sooooo we no longer have a dining room. it didn't make sense to continue paying rent while not being able to serve customers. while it initially really sucked i've come to terms with it. additionally i have family that are super immune deficient and i just don't want or need to take any chances. thank you to all customers who have shown concern and or have notified me that restrictions for dine in have been lifted. anyhoo, here are some cool things i discovered since moving to takeout and delivery only:

1) i get to see my family more

2) the reduction in volume was sort of offset by the reduction in overhead

c) my staff that were willing to continue working through the pandemic are way more comfortable reading tickets than having to speak to customers to take orders.

4) i'm way more involved in my kitchen making food since i don't have to stay upstairs to greet customers.  turns out i like being in the kitchen too!

5) my regulars continue to return even though they don't get my charming presence hovering about and chatting their ear off.

6) less errors in interpreting customer orders since customers enter exactly what they want.

downsides are:

1) i miss the sense of community and friendships that i found in serving people.

2) the ability to receive and address any feedback in person to customers.

3) seeing families, couples, and friends enjoying our offerings while hopefully creating lovely memories that sbm was apart of.

welcome to SIMPLYBANHMI! dc's best vietnamese food with admittedly dc's crappiest website. you won't find a fancy souless kiosk here to take your order(update we now have souless kiosk online ordering). there's no modern industrial influence in our decor. our serving-ware isn't handcrafted and eclectic. we're not about design... obvs. we're a brother (john) and sister (diana) duo "duo'ing" our best to bring our mother's recipes to the masses!(update, my sister ditched us. she was last seen pretending to enjoy her weekends, steady paycheck, paid holidays and health insurance... tragic.) we deal in good eats, not so much in the interwebs, marketing, design or anything else polished. anyhoo, great food. great service. we're working on the rest. hopefully we can make a living at this... looking at you web visitor!

when we first opened we were a tiny hole in the ground basement dive with a "lovable" staff, surprisingly good banh mi, super reasonable pricing, and obsessive attention to service. now we occupy the main floor with room for 22 guests.(update dining room gone now) our menu has grown to include pho, rice, noodle and salad bowls. the staff are still the same down to earth kids and the food is still top notch. prices remain super reasonable. check the YELPS, playa. just the good ones, though, mmmkay? whoa wait, did we mention we have vegan, gluten free, and halal options? we do. what?! true story.

bread is a limited commodity at simplybanhmi. once it's gone, it's gone for the day. if you are coming in for sandwiches, call ahead. we'll be glad to set aside some baguettes for you!

do us a solid. come in, eat(update eat our food at your pad, your friends pad, ipad, but we don't have a dining area no more), relax, enjoy and help us pay the bills so that we may honor our beloved mother... ANNNND her ever "helpful" criticisms of us.

   

tl;dr brother sister owned shop with the best banhmi, pho, rice, noodle, salad options that are halal, vegan, gluten free. their website sucks.
